What is PROVA DRAIN® PLUS? PROVA DRAIN® PLUS is an ABS/PVC point drain system to be used with PROVA PAN® and PROVA-SHOWER® systems or mortar bases. PROVA DRAIN® PLUS may also be installed in other bonded waterproofing assemblies, such as steam rooms, wet rooms, bathroom floors, commercial kitchen floors, and other applications that require drainage.

How is PROVA DRAIN® PLUS different from PROVA DRAIN®? The primary difference between PROVA DRAIN® PLUS and PROVA DRAIN® is that PROVA DRAIN® PLUS includes an adapter component for easily connecting to an existing 3-part clamping ring drain system that may be difficult or time consuming to remove. The adapter is optional—for installations where there is no previous drain or the existing one can be easily removed, PROVA DRAIN® PLUS can be installed without the adapter.

What are the major benefits of PROVA DRAIN® PLUS? PROVA DRAIN® PLUS offers several functional and installation-related benefits, including the following: 1. Hassle-free drain replacement: The drain can be installed without having to remove all components of the previous drain, which may be difficult to remove or inaccessible (installed in a concrete basement). 2. Versatile tile placement: The lateral movement of the collar piece, up to 3/4", allows for the placement of tiles with varying dimensions to finish the floor and center the drain without making complicated tile cuts. 3. Extended tile thickness compatibility: The vertical movement of the collar piece allows for the installation of different thicknesses of tile. 4. Superior adhesion: The drain assembly includes pre-applied PROVA BOND®, offering greater adhesion to thinset mortar during installation.

How is PROVA DRAIN® PLUS installed? For installations that will replace an existing three-piece drain, PROVA DRAIN® PLUS is installed by removing the existing clamping ring and replacing it with the new adapter before connecting the new drain with bolts and PROVA-SEAL™. A premium polymer-modified thinset mortar must be used to secure the drain to PROVA PAN® and set the PROVA® DRAIN GRATE HOUSING in place. Can an existing PROVA DRAIN® be installed with the adapter from PROVA DRAIN® PLUS? No, PROVA DRAIN® cannot be combined with the components of PROVA DRAIN® PLUS. The components of PROVA DRAIN® PLUS have been specifically designed to fit the new adapter piece.

Why are there markings on both sides of the ring part of the PROVA® DRAIN GRATE HOUSING, and what do they mean? The PROVA DRAIN GRATE HOUSING includes a height-adjustment collar and a ring, which are used for changing the height of the drain grate and its lateral position on the drain body. Additionally, the ring can be installed in two orientations, one side for tile thicknesses less than 1/2" and one side for tile thicknesses greater than 1/2". The markings on the ring correspond to these installation orientations.

How will using the included adapter with PROVA DRAIN® PLUS affect installations on PROVA PAN®? Q7: Use of the adapter included with PROVA DRAIN® PLUS will increase the typical starting height of the installed drain, so a layer of PROVA BOARD® PLUS must be installed on the substrate to evenly raise the starting height of PROVA PAN® and ensure the drain body sits on the pan’s recessed drain area. The thickness and number of layers of PROVA BOARD PLUS required for this will be determined by the height of the existing drain components connected to the drainpipe.
